The bee gardens
A network of flowering areas to save bees.
"The Bee Gardens" is one of the three winning projects of the "Urban Generations" call, organized by the municipality of Alexandria with the support of the Association Culture and Development. We know bees, we save them by planting flowers, open-air workshops for children from 5 to 10 years old.
A project that brings children closer to ecology thanks to the knowledge of the world of bees and the creation of flower beds that stimulate the activity of this species.
The project had a meeting point at the Holy Family Maternal School of Upper Maggiate,
On 31 May, two workshops were organised involving the recipients in explaining the role bees play in the environment. At the end of the workshops, the children are involved in a group in a drawing and stimulated to represent what they have learned or that most affected them during the workshops themselves.
The project ensures the environmental education of children and teachers/educators who participate in the activities. They are made aware of the importance of the role of bees, as well as in general towards the concept of biodiversity and the factors that threaten it. In addition, the development of the project contributes to the stimulation of youth aggregation. Children have the opportunity to engage in practical activities and at the end of the lesson mellifeflower seeds have been planted in pots to continue to pursue the goal of supporting the activity of bees even outside the events of the project.
